Chocolate Banana Smoothie
Smoothies should should be quick and simple and that’s just what this chocolate banana smoothie is. It has just enough chocolate to add interesting notes to the sweet banana with lingering notes of warm vanilla to keep you wanting more.
I’ve seen plenty of smoothie recipes that I think oh that would be delicious, but it involves a whole armory of ingredients that I don’t have. Even if I did have them, I wouldn’t be thrilled about taking them out of storage only to have to save them to make one drink which means I will never make it.
This smoothie is sweet, but it’s not dessert sweet. If you want it sweeter, you can add more sweetener.
Chocolate Banana Smoothie Ingredients
1 frozen banana
¾ c milk
1 Tbl sugar
1 ½ Tbl cocoa powder
½ c ice
¼ tsp vanilla (optional)
Chocolate Banana Smoothie Directions
Makes 1 serving
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. You’ll need to blend it longer than you think for it to be creamy. Depending on your blender, it should be about 2-5 minutes.
Notes
If you don’t have a frozen banana, you can use a regular one. The frozen banana makes a firmer texture.
You can add a couple of tablespoons of nuts or seeds if you like. Depending on how much you use, you might need to add a little extra milk.
You can use whatever sweetener you like. You can even use chocolate syrup in place of the cocoa powder and sugar.
When bananas are past ripe (think banana bread), I will break it into 2 or three 3 pieces (easier for storing) and wrap it in a plastic wrap. I’ll slide it into a Ziploc bag. Whenever I need a frozen banana, it’s easy to get 1 banana.
